Candid Convos

Candid Convos with Katherine Richardson

Candid Convos featuring Katherine Richardson, hosted by Joe Bravo.

Welcome to another episode of Candid Convos! Our show, where amazing business leaders share their valuable insights and experiences with our host, Joe Bravo (GSU’s Senior Community Coordinator). In this episode, we would like to welcome Katherine Richardson, an attorney and law firm owner whose focus practice is Family Law, including, but not limited to marital dissolution (divorce), non-dissolution matters (parties who were not married but have children together), child custody, child support, and pre-and post-judgment matters.

Building Rapport With Your VA

After learning about GSU’s offshore staff from her colleagues, she hired her first virtual assistant. After attending a couple of insightful meetings to determine the best profile for her firm, she identified the perfect candidate for her business: someone proactive, organized, empathetic, and with a good sense of humor. They clicked from day one, and it quickly became a game-changer for her practice, thanks to her VA’s protectiveness of her time and exceptional efficiency.

Katherine’s radio background enables her to build rapport with other teammates and accomplish tasks without being physically present. When the pandemic hit, she had already established a home office, which made the transition to a fully virtual workplace seamless.

Efficient Onboarding = Greater Productivity

After going fully virtual, Katherine’s law firm embraced all the tools available to ensure efficient workflow and eliminate delays,  resulting in more fluid work processes.  While AI has provided useful tools, the personal nature of family law makes it difficult to automate.

Before her virtual assistant started, Katherine created procedural documents to make onboarding easier. To speed up her VA’s learning curve, she identified which documents go with certain procedures and created a matrix that is easy to understand.  Katherine highlights that, in her practice area, the priority is to look for quality clients rather than volume.

Katherine closes the conversation by stating the importance of nurturing a positive working environment and facilitating a smooth cultural exchange between her employees. It’s all about working with individuals who strive to give their best effort and feel like valued team members. FIND THE PERFECT VA FOR YOUR PRACTICE HERE!
