Candid Convos with Misty Buck

Candid Convos with Misty Buck featuring our Brand Ambassador, Joe Bravo.

Welcome back! We are excited to share with you our newest episode of Candid Convos; where we discuss virtual staffing in the new remote economy with a business owner, or lawyer, who utilizes virtual staff. In this episode Joe, the host, has an inspirational conversation with Misty Buck, a marketing expert, certified coach, and published author. With more than 15 years of experience, Misty’s agency specializes in digital marketing, sports branding and social media.

Knowing and Understanding your Audience

Starting a business during the 2008 economic crisis was out of the question for most people, but not for Misty. She started with a MySpace account and learned through the recession how to build her own agency. She was one of the first to realize that social media was going to be the next game-changing event; restructuring the digital marketing landscape. New methods for finding potential clients were open, and reaching out to them became a priority.

Following her own 3C’s for marketing success, “Content-Conversation-Consistency” to generate engagement with the audience, Misty realized something important. There is a fine line to create a successful campaign and a mediocre one; distinguishing requires patience and focus. You need to clearly communicate to your audience, “You need to tell them what can they get from you, that they cannot get ANYWHERE else“.

Understanding yourself and your audience is primordial, otherwise, your message will suffer from interference and your audience will not receive the proper idea. It is easier to work with clients who share your ideology. Mutual respect and understanding can create long-lasting business relationships. It all comes down to this: “People do business with people they like”.

Advocate for Collaboration to Find Work-Life Balance

Lessons learned as a life coach were one of the reasons why Misty was able to unlock her potential. Following a personal mantra was “Always, the person comes first”. To achieve mindfulness and balance you need to work hard and focus on what’s most important in your life and business. To find the peace you need to first walk through the discomfort. Push past your comfort zone and surround yourself with a team who follows your values.

Collaboration became crucial after the pandemic hit. Everyone, including Misty, had to adapt to a remote and virtual working environment. This event led to an important realization, a vast quantity of the workload could be done virtually. Working more efficiently, only meeting in person with clients or if the situation required it. She started staffing her agency with offshore virtual assistants to reduce her hiring cost and increase revenue.

Over the last 2 years, Misty has increased her virtual team workforce. By having constant meetings with her team, everybody is always on the same channel and working towards the same goal. Working with people who have different perspectives adds value to the service Misty and her team provide.

Virtual assistant benefits

Organization is also a key element. Your team needs to know where everything is, related to their work. Develop a virtual environment that can mimic and even improve upon an in-house working one. Finding the best talent is hard nowadays and thanks to GSU virtual assistants she has found excellent team members who are passionate and interested in making her agency grow. Thanks to a smooth hiring process and onboarding experience she wants to keep expanding her team. “Virtual work is more than a possibility, it’s a reality”.
