Welcome to another episode of Candid Convos! Our show, where amazing business leaders share their valuable insights and experiences with our host, Joe Bravo (GSU’s Senior Community Coordinator). In this episode, we welcome Pankaj Raval, an attorney and law firm owner who focuses on serving entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized companies. Industries served include technology, fashion, entertainment, cannabis, personal and retail services, health care, and real estate, in the for-profit and non-profit space.
Investing & Improving
Pankaj first started his firm Carbon Law Group as an effort that would outlast him, wanting to create a business that could go on without him. Carbon is the fundamental organic element that makes up everything in the universe, is a connecting element, and, under pressure, becomes a diamond. Much like his cases, where he finds the best opportunities and solutions for his clients.
His creative background provided him with a unique advantage and allowed him to look for different ideas and approaches to his practice. Searching for freedom is one of the goals he pursues the most, for Pankaj, freedom is more valuable than money, looking for a great work-life balance provides satisfaction and a true feeling of fulfillment. Pankaj states how crucial it was for him when he hired a coach and started investing in himself, he truly believes that improving oneself is essential.
An Offshore Perspective
Having that growth mindset and cultivating the idea of what is a success. Working with offshore team members provides a unique view to his practice, different cultures might approach things differently and that creates valuable strategies that might not have occurred from working only with in-house talent. When the pandemic hit, Pankaj’s firm was faced with a challenge, luckily he had already invested in cloud technology, so they were able to experience a full virtual transition.
Extra efforts were made to keep nurturing an incredible working environment. Having one on one meetings with his employees and providing them with the necessary tools and support to get the work done and feel fulfilled. “It’s about the challenge with love”. Getting the onboarding process right is very important when it comes to virtual hiring. Compassion and empathy are essential ingredients to becoming a great leader. You need to know when to push someone while providing support.
Pankaj closes the conversation by stating how beneficial has been adding offshore talent to his business. Reducing costs and improving workflows while continuously having more time for himself to spend with his family. Building a strong and reliable team is a reality that most business owners should embrace. You can start forming or expanding your own with the help of incredible virtual assistants.
