On May 23rd, 2022, Brett Trembly, attorney, and co-founder of Get Staffed Up, was featured on the Lawyer Business Advantage Podcast. This podcast is dedicated to helping attorneys make more money, get better clients, and spend more time with family. Hosted by Alay Yajnik, whose passion is to enable law firms and attorneys to build successful law firms. Since 2013, Alay and his team have been helping law firms and lawyers fill their books with great clients while enabling them to take weeks of vacation each year.
In this episode, Alay and Brett talk about strategic hiring to grow your firm faster. Brett starts by sharing his early days as a solo practitioner. He then shares how by hiring strategically at his law firm, he was able to grow his business and profit. The key is to hire internationally. When you hire offshore, you are able to save costs, while adding an incredible team member to your business.
Spend Money On Your Profit Centers
In 2018, Brett and his business partner launched Get Staffed Up. An offshore staffing company that focuses on administrative level virtual assistants. As a differentiator, the virtual assistants are mostly from South Africa and South America. These virtual assistants are basically full-time people placed at your law firm. Get Staffed Up does insourcing, they find and place amazing people to be full-time team members. The technology behind having a virtual assistant is very easy and cost-effective. A personal assistant could be answering personal phone calls from Mexico with no problems at all by using VOIP.
The issue many firm owners are facing right now, according to Brett and Alay, is that it is impossible to find a good entry-level employee for $10 per hour in the United States. This is why hiring offshore is a very smart way of hiring. Alay agrees, that in order to grow a decent law firm, lawyers must spend money on the profit centers. Therefore, by saving costs on your administrative employees, you are able to invest in local paralegals and attorneys. As a result, the business and profit will grow.
