This time, our featured guest is Vanessa Vasquez. Vanessa Vasquez is the founder and owner of Vasquez de Lara Law Group. A law firm dedicated to assisting families with the legal issues affecting them and their loved ones in family court. Vanessa is also a long-time GSU client and a returning guest at Candid Convos.
Joe and Vanessa start by talking about how due to the family issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic her law firm was able to thrive. These new cases allowed them to grow and add new attorneys to the legal team. Vanessa’s virtual assistant, Guadalupe, is from Colombia and has been vital in the growth of the firm.
Guadalupe started as a virtual receptionist answering phone calls and now she takes the role of an intake coordinator. She schedules new clients, manages consultations, assists the office manager, and also assists as a translator. “She is invaluable” – Vanessa says.
Sharing Goals As A Team
Astonished by Vanessa’s success, Joe asks for some insights. Vanessa shares that a key factor is to have specific procedures for each position, and to review these on a regular basis. Another key factor is to make sure that everyone knows their own responsibility, as well as the responsibilities of their peers.
Furthermore, Joe and Vanessa speak about the importance of making sure that every staff member knows what the company goals are so they can help you reach them. The teams must be on board, especially because they will be invaluable to making sure that you meet these goals.
Lastly, Vanessa mentioned that in order to build a cohesive team she has team meetings regularly where everyone is present whether physically or through video conferencing. And since one of their core values is family, looking after team members is a priority.
