We’re so excited to share with you our next episode of Candid Convos, where we discuss virtual staffing in the new remote economy with a lawyer or other business owner who utilizes virtual staff. This time, our featured guest is Carrie Schultz, owner of MR. Men’s Rights Divorce & Family Law in New Jersey, an entrepreneurial divorce and family law firm that focuses on providing legal guidance to men and fathers. We don’t always interview clients, but today’s episode is one of our happy Get Staffed Up clients.
In this episode, Brett and Carrie discuss her experience working with remote staffing and learning how to shift from the traditional office environment into an unconventional system. Once her firm achieved that, she realized it wasn’t as hard as she thought it would be. What going virtual did was expand her horizons, since she’s now able to hire positions that are not limited to candidates in the state of New Jersey, or even in the U.S.
They also shared pretty cool insights on how easy it is to work with a virtual assistant and the types of tasks you can delegate to a virtual assistant, for example: managing the email and calendar of higher-level positions to keep it all well organized. It’s easy to delegate tasks and give instructions virtually because everything is in writing and you are just a video call away. There are a lot of entry-level positions — like the ones Get Staffed Up offers — that don’t need to be in an office.
It is important to be clear on what type of virtual assistant you are looking for. You can now think of how to add capacity to your firm, instead of ways that would normally just be a logjam. It really depends on your firm, on the position you’re looking to fill in, and using your creativity to foresee where you need more capacity.
What does Carrie say about her virtual assistant from GSU?
“My virtual assistant from Venezuela works as a Billing Coordinator and works out beautifully. It is as if he is literally in our office because we’re all in constant communication. It really is seamless. So now I’m expanding that out into other staff administrative positions.”
“The beauty with Get Staffed Up is that they are full-time virtual assistants, 100% dedicated to you. For them, it is very prestigious to work with a U.S. company and they are a little bit more invested. You get to train them just as if they were sitting in front of you. They are dedicated to your firm and the way you do things, plus they’re not splitting their time working for someone else — that was huge for me. And the cost, you can’t beat it. So, if you find the right person and that person fits the needs of your firm on top of the cost-saving part of it, for me it’s a no-brainer.”
